Warrantee

I received this drone for Christmas. I live in MN so couldn't get out to try it out until end of March. When I did the Wi Fi was very spastic. Would come and go even at extremely close range. There is only a 3 month Warrantee on the drone so it was just past the expiration. I called their CS line and worked with Derrick trying to diagnose the problem. He said that the Warrantee was up but that they would send me out a new camera and that I would have it in 3-6 days. The video is of the first flight. When the video stopped is where WI FI cut out.

I have fallen in LOVE!

First time drone flyer, but long time RC Plane pilot. First off let me say just how absolutely impressed I am with this drone, the technology packed in a this thing is crazy cool!! Until this morning I had never flown a drone and I am now hooked. I'll break down the Great, Good, and what I struggled with.

Great:
1. GPS locks and works flawlessly! Used Point of Interest and plotted a course, the drone followed on point!
2. Return to home, saved me a few times and worked GREAT!
3. Take off and landing perfect!
4. Range is amazing
5. Flew in 15 mile per hour winds and it had NO problem.
6. Return-to-home for low battery worked amazingly.

Good:
1. Camera - takes very good video and decent pictures
2. Assembly was pretty straight forward
3. Battery life - it was cold here (30 degrees F) and I got 16 minutes of flight time before return-to-home took over and brought the drone back.

Needs some improvement:
1. Photos to phone, didn't work 2 of the 3 times I tried, however all saved to the camera card flawlessly.
2. I struggled with connecting to the drones WiFi network and preflight calibration.
3. Phone video cuts out at long range, but the controller stays connected with no issue.

I will leave it at this and this goes out to all those that said they had issues with the drone wandering or losing control, you MUST MUST MUST perform preflight calibration and ensure you have solid satellite reception or it will freak out a bit, however if you don't follow proper procedure it is USER ERROR when the drone does not perform as expected.

After having a chance to fly my HS700, I think it flies great and certainly performs for my needs. I'm giving 4 stars for two reasons.
1: The instruction manual needs to be reviewed and corrected. There is a fair amount of information that doesn't exactly make sense in parts since it seems it wasn't written by a native English speaker. Clearer writing would be very helpful in the instructions manuals.
2: There definitely needs to be an on/off switch on the drone itself. Currently, if the battery is in, the drone is on. If the battery is out, the drone is off. That's the only way to turn on or off.

As far as flying, it flies really great. I got an estimated 15 minutes of flight time I think, but that was due to me getting used to the controls and a little wind while flying.
The camera is pretty good in my opinion, good enough to take real estate pictures of properties or look for issues on roofs. While it may not be perfect quality, it's pretty good for the price. Can always be upgraded if you so desire. The camera does not move in flight. You have to adjust its position and its set there unless you move.
I can tell you from first hand experience the drone is built really solid. It's not cheaply built.

Half the fun is learning to fly.

Just learning and cannot give a full review, yet. So far, the experience has been fulfilling just learning to fly and watching the drone when I don't handle the left/right toggles so adroitly, causing the drone to act differently than advertised. I'll post more as I learn more.
One point I think should be made...the connecting wire for the camera should be black or red or any color except white. The packaging is white and the wire almost got thrown away with the styrofoam.

Good drone but had a few issues connecting thru the app

Good drone to start with. I liked the way it handled and response was great when using the contoller. I Kept losing communication with the drone on my phone so i couldnt use the phone very often to record. Luckily though the controller was still connected and the drone didnt just fly away. Dont like that there are no bumper guards to protect the propellors a little more. Luckily they come with an extra set. Much easier to assemble than my HS100.

I fly drones for fun and also for taking videos and photos. The HS700 by Holy Stone is a fun drone to fly. The Ophelia app is also a nice feature. Now for my review...
Out of the box, you must assemble the camera apparatus, blades and landing gear. Assembly is not difficult. Had mine all together within 5 minutes. Pre-flight preparation... Again, not difficult. Calibration is also easy. Put the drone on a level surface, turn it on, turn it 3 times clockwise, then counter clockwise, the face the camera down and turn it 3 times that way. Calibration all done! The remote is pre-calibrated so you should be fine there. Just be sure to follow the included instructions for all. They are good.
Now for the Ophelia app.. Download and install it to your phone. Not hard. There are some instructional videos on how to use Ophelia on You Tube. Be sure to check some of them out. There are 2 features on the app that I really like. One is "Point of interest" and the other is "Tap fly". While I didn't show these feature on the video they are not difficult. You can fly with or without the app with this drone. With the app you can also use 3-D goggles to further enhance your flying experience. Overall this is a really nice drone for your money. Why did I not give it a 5 star review?
There are a couple of things that I think Holy Stone can improve on with this drone. First, there is no on/off switch on the drone itself or the battery. To turn it on you install the battery. To turn it off you remove the battery. I think that is an oversight they need to address. I'd rather it have a switch or button to turn it on and off. Also, you get about 20 minutes of fly time then 7 hours of charge time. Get an extra battery! The only other thing I have issue with is the camera. I think they could have gone with a 4K camera, and maybe a gimbal? The camera is 1080p. It is not bad. I wish it was adjustable in flight though. The only other issue is that the TF card is extremely hard to remove and install. I use a pair of tweezers to get it in and out. But you must be very careful doing this.
Other than the cam and battery issues, for the price, this is an awesome drone! I give it 4.5 stars overall. If you want a nice drone and a great flying experience I'd strongly recommend the HS700. If Holy Stone adds an on/off feature and improves the camera I'll certainly give it 5+ star ratings! Now, go out, fly, and have fun! I know I did!
