Great product for the price! Easy controls and options to help you start at your pace. Instructions could be a little more clear, but customer service for me has been exceptional.

Great Little Drone For the Money but Study Before You Fly and Don't Expect More Than It Can Give.

I'm one of those guys who doesn't spend a lot of time reading the manual or studying before I operate something new. I'm kind of a trial and error guy. Somehow I got the drone bug and found this drone to be rated the best GPS drone below $200.00. I did minimum reading and unpackaged, charged the batteries, download the app, calibrated the compass and gyro and actually got it flying around my backyard. After several days of taking it out in various places I was pushing it pretty hard flying it out of my back yard, up 40 meters, and then walking out front and flying it down to the river and pushing the return button and watching it fly up to 40 meters and come straight back to my backyard and land. Very cool, but I either didn't calibrate it when I should have or inadvertently got it in headless mode and I lost control of it and it crashed into the top of a 110 foot Douglas Fir in my front yard. It came down in the wind a few days later but had a cracked and bent arm. I lost some confidence after that.

So I bought a second one and did some more reading, but still was not fully educated. I was getting pretty cocky with drone #2 and let it run behind me over the forest. I lost the video and press the return home, but it never came home. I think it was my fault as the terrain sloped up behind me and, even though I had it set for 37 meter return it may have hit a tree on the way home. I searched and tried to reconnect to the wifi with no luck. Searched again the next day, but never found it.

I contacted the supplier and ask if I could just buy another drone as, even though the second didn't return home, as advertised, I took responsibility for losing both of mine. To my surprise the vendor, DeeRC, sent me a complete new one although I already had 2 cases and 3 spare batteries and lots of parts. Now that is customer service! They went above and beyond for a satisfied customer.

So my bottom line is, although this drone is quite amazing for under $200, don't push it to its limits. Read the book. Watch some Youtube videos. Calibrate the compass and gyro before you fly. Keep it in line of site. Fly conservatively, especially if you are new. Be extremely careful in headless mode - make sure you start with it facing away from you and not in wind and don't fly it behind you in headless. Because this drone is so capable you will start pushing it to the edge of it's capability and that's where you get in trouble. In the meantime of DeeRC sending me a replacement, I saw that another retailer had it with no case and 1 battery for $119 so now I have purchased my 3rd and have 2 new ones on hand. I think that I'm educated through trial and error and then really studying so I'm going to try to enjoy these without crashing or losing them. If that works out, I may pop for a $1,200 drone with collision avoidance and a serious camera.
