This is a great beginner drone! It's not out of price range. It flys a whole lot better than I imagined. It's super smooth. The camera is fixed but does a great job. Another major plus for this drone is the controller. No batteries needed as it is rechargable will the same cord to charge the batteries for the drone itself. The range is pretty impressive. It doesn't like to move quick even on the highest speed setting and only goes up in altitude about 30 feet but I think it's perfect for this drone. No gps (obviously) but this is a solid mini drone! Highly recommended if you just want to goof around or just have something small to bring around.
Holy Stone! Not quite what I expected...

Amazon and the Deerc are great. Yeah there was a issue on my part.... So either way I still ended up buying the Holy Stone hs161 quadcopter. It was a total disappointment. So after unboxing and charging everything (Batt., Remote) I read the manual and saw that I needed to scan a QRcode for the EzFly App that is supposed to work with WiFi for this quad. Scanned it and then downloaded it. Next I turned on the quadcopter first then the remote to bind with the remote(L. Joystick- up, down) then the lights stop flashing and it's now linked to the remote. I then proceeded to open wifi and found the "holystone" wifi signal and connected, next I opened the EzFly app to find that most features were not working, including live video+pic feed, Flytap and a cpl other features. I did some research and found the answer for at least one of those features from another Holy Stone app review feedback from other people whom bought different quads from Holy Stoned. Turns out the cellular data needs to be shut off for it to link. So I did all the steps again in same order but no data this time and the picture came on when I opened the app and hit "fly" Boom! Visual. So I understand it's not a hs720 or anything else but my syma cx5w was a nice begginers quad just saying. I turned on the rotors with the one flight up button and took it up off the ground. It's seemed ok. Optical flow was decent but the climb to a max height of I'd say 30ft high was the first let down, then the speed of flight in the highest setting was still incredibly slow as a turtle. The footage is glitchy on live feed but works as good as it gets for this cheap quadcopter. Takes pics/video in 4k1080p supposedly. Not thrilled with quality of either finished product. I tried to use tapfly and have yet to figure this feature out. The flight time was maybe 7 or 8 mins. It was just mostly a let down and I wish I had gotten something else other than a Holy Stone hs161. It's cool that it has a led fleshlight and you can do video and pics with the quadcopter in hand without it being in flight not to mention charge a mobile device for very short time. Overall I wouldn't suggest this Holy Stone hs161 to even the beginner. Total let down and wished I had spent my money on something I would enjoy flying.

I purchased this for my husband. He really enjoys it. The drone comes with an extra battery. While he "plays" the other battery is charging which is nice. It is a good drone for beginners however the trim needs to be adjusted at times. The drone is very light weight and folds in to be no larger than an average flashlight. Actually, because of the light on the front of the drone you can use it as a flashlight even when folded. The drone connects to your phone via WiFi so you can record your flights. There is also an SD slot on the drone to save video. All in all we are very pleased with this item. Great drone for this price.

HS161 Holystone is full of surprises, you can call this drone the Swiss army knife of beginner drones, for such a little drone it is packed with many things such as, the drone has built in flashlight, you have a still camera you have a 1080P video camera, I have used the drone as a dash camera. equipped with a USB port, making the drone as a 1000mAh power bank. The drone has foldable arms design, makes the drone compact and portable. Comes with a controller and two batteries. Optical flow positioning makes for better photos and videos, remote video camera mode, and you have an SD slot! it comes with propeller guards Safe to fly indoors, controller has a trimming mode for more stable flying. It does not have gps so you are pretty much flying manually, with the controller which has several options. Its fly’s with the HS fly me app. We had a lot of fun with the HS161 drone I would suggest getting this drone for a beginner its a tough little drone and I am impressed with all this drone has to offer and I am sure you will too. And so… I’ve added yet another drone to my fleet. This time what’s caught my attention is very non-trivial set of functionalities: drone that is also a flashlight and a (small) power-bank. And for $60! Ok, after two weeks of having fun – my impressions: - Optical stabilization DOES work! This drone is much more stable than any other “toy”-level drones I’ve encountered. So, it is pretty safe to fly indoors – as long as you use prop-guards
