2 modes of flight!!!

This little srone makes a perfect starter drone for anyone. Especially for people with kids or anyone trying a drone for the first time. The reason is, this drone has two completely modes of flight. One being that it has a remote control that flies on the normal 2.4ghz frequency that most all drones use. Secondly you can also fly this drone alone or with partners without using the controller. It allows you to toss the drone in up with your hand and and fly between yourself and/or others. It has "obstical avoidance" which keeps it from hitting things. You use your hands to direct its flight. Once it nears you, you just put up a hand to block it which sends it back away in another direction. Then when it nears another person they just use their hands in the same way. Also this little Holy Stone Drone can be flown inside or out (weather providing). Once you and others become familiar with flying the drone you can make it do flips and rolls for a more fascinating flight. Finally the price make it affordable for practically anyone. Also i recieved this drone super fast. If you want to begin the great hobby of flight, this is a great place to start!

**** EDIT: Holy Stone contacted me the same day this was posted, and is sending the correct charging cords. I've upgraded the review from 4 to 5 stars, great customer service. ****

I received this drone from Holy Stone for an honest review, to provide full disclosure. I do own a Holy Stone HS720E, which was purchased by myself. I do enjoy the 720E a ton.

Packaging: Well package, the drone comes in a clamshell plastic holder inside the box for shipping. The drone, and three batteries are in one part, the controller in a separate part. There is also a small bag that contains extra propellers, a small phillips screwdriver, a propeller spanner (wrench), a battery charger, and the user manual, as well as the battery information.

I unpacked everything, and went to charge the batteries when I discovered the only problem with this drone. The batteries for the drone do NOT connect to the battery charger. The manual shows a small lead coming from the battery, to connect to the charger. There is no lead on these batteries, so you cannot connect to the provided charger. There is, however, a Micro-USB connection to the batteries. I was able to charge the batteries using a Micro USB cord. There are no indicators on the battery, however, to say when it's full. Hoylton (Holy Stone) documentation states a 40-60 minute charge time. I charged for an hour, just to be on the safe side. Batteries are a LiPo 220mAh battery. The controller will need 3 "AA" batteries, which are not included.

It should be noted there is no included carry case with this drone. Holy Stone does include a case on some of their other higher end drones. But, for $29, you shouldn't really be expecting one.

The instruction manual does a good job walking you through the set up, pairing and calibration of the drone. It also covers trimming the drone to prevent drifting left/right, and forward/backwards.

The drone flies well, I took it for a little flight around my living room. I did bounce off the wall and ceiling several times getting used to the drone. This left NO marks on the wall or ceiling, for you concerned moms and dads out there.

The prop guards do a great job protecting fingers. I was able to grab the drone out of the air without worrying about getting bit by the props. The prop opening on the underside of the drone are larger than the top, however. Smaller fingers could possibly get in there.

There is no camera on this drone, for those wondering. There are what appear to be optical sensors on all 4 sides, top and bottom of the drone. This wont stop collisions with walls and ceilings, though!

There is a bright white LED on the front, and a blue LED on the back.

Overall, this is a well built drone, solid, as I ran it into the walls a few times, and did no damage to the drone or the walls.

I've given this little drone 4 stars, simply due to the battery charger not being able to connect to the batteries, requiring a micro USB cable and hub. I luckily had a couple here for my tablets. If someone doesn't have one around, it will require an additional purchase.

Fun indoor kids drone

Fun and durable drone for kids. The auto take off and ability to toss the drone into the air is great. Has programmed flips. Very durable, lots of crashes and no damage. Comes with 3 batteries and a dual USB charger which is nice. Controls take a little getting used to, but since it's small and plastic (see pic, battery not included but for scale) haven't noticed any scratches or marks on walls or furniture when crashing. I'd only use indoors or outside with absolutely no wind.

I brought this as a birthday present for my 6 year old nephew. He really enjoyed playing this mini drone, as you can see in the photo of it on my hand as a size reference. I love this mini size because it is not only allows him to play it outside but also inside the house. In addition, it is super easy to use, my nephew figured it out on his own and play it like a pro now.

This drone was awesome to fly in the house!!! the hands free mode is a lot of fun to play with. Kids and Adults alike, will have a lot fun controlling it with their hands. Especially with winter coming, this is a great gift to give or to get. My only issue with it, there is no hands landing feature. Other then that it is great drone to have.
